I decided to see what SECPN had to say about the Yankees - Royals game yesterday.
I find an article titled, Weary Yanks welcome day off, make no excuses . I read that the poor Yankees have played 17 straight games (Kansas City has played 13 straight). They've only had 1 game off in 30 days... if not for a postponed game against Chicago White Sox, Kansas City would have only had one game off since April 14.
In short, a lot of teams have played a lot games with only 1 or 2 days off.
But the poor Yankees are weary... and need a day off. You could say that about 20 other ball clubs.

Maybe -- just maybe -- weariness has a little to do with the fact they're 2-5 so far on this nine-game road trip, averaging only 1.2 runs in every defeat, and just got shut out for the first time.
