Today's the day for Evan Fields.

K-State staff will be in Midwest City tonight to visit the star Oklahoma safety. Tom Hayes, who would not only be the defensive coordinator but also the position coach for Fields, will represent the Wildcats and is scheduled to stop by around 6 p.m.

It was thought that Bill Snyder may accompany his assistant south, furthering the message of Fields' importance to K-State's 2017 class, but I'm told the head coach will not be partaking in the visit.

This will be a massive few hours for K-State and, in particular, the sales pitch of Hayes. Since Fields has already visited Manhattan, this will be one of the last time's (if not the last) K-State will be face to face with the heralded defensive back prior to Signing Day.

He's a must-have and the Wildcat coaching staff has made that abundantly clear from the beginning. So far the interest has been mutual, as Fields has held K-State among his top candidates from the beginning. However, there are plenty of teams still moving in furiously. Fields reiterated to me last week that he is still is as undecided as ever when it comes to where he'll commit so expect this one to go down to the wire.
