Yes I would have liked to have seen 2 very good P5 teams brought to the league, or even put the B12 back together. But none of that was available or feasible. Here are some of the points:

- Due to the Baylor fiasco, (that continues), no one was going to touch BYU, for their conduct code and the LGBT issues. Even though they were the strongest candidate from an academic and athletic perspective.

- The networks were going to fight the pro-rata clause to the death. Particularly after the bone head LHN, and other $$ hemorrhaging deals ESPN has made. It became a Mexican stand-off with the league not wanting to piss off the most lucrative part of the sport - "TELEVISION", and the networks trying to protect a contract that was only going to add mediocre teams. Houston may be a wasted opportunity, but there is no telling after Herman is gone.

- Now the bright side, this is not going to go away without some money changing hands. The networks will pony up some extra funds to buy out the pro-rata, and each school pockets allot of extra cash for the next 9 years.

- Seriously I don't believe the conference leadership was that smart to think this all out ahead of time, but it's all about dollars in the end. And this is how this whole circus naturally gravitated to this resolve.

Call me crazy ...
