I see some posts about getting rid of LHCBS, going out and hiring a top notch coach, and then we will be back to being a perennial top-20 team.

Whether LHCBS coaches for 2-3 more years or is done at the end of the year and we get BV to come here, my expectations are the same.

My 'hope' for an average season over the course of a 10 year period would be 8-4.
  • 2.5 wins and .5 losses in the non-con (with tougher scheduling likely coming (i.e. Stanford next year and Auburn in the past) we will probably lose one of those type games every other year)
  • 5.5 wins and 3.5 losses in conference (beat the 3 bad teams, lose to the 3 best teams, and have 3 toss up games each year)
  • For a TOTAL average of 8 wins and 4 losses.

Since Snyder's return, here is his record (assuming we go 6-6 this year):
19-4 non-con
37-24 conference
=====
56-28 TOTAL, for an average of 8-4 (with a couple of teams ranked in the top-10 over that stretch

And there is a 4-year cycle with the QB, newbie QB in Yr 1 and seasoned vet in Yr 4.

Yr 1, 6-6
Yr 2, 8-4
Yr 3, 9-3
Yr 4, 10-2
Yr 5, 6-6
Yr 6, 7-5
Yr 7, 8-4
Yr 8, 10-2
Yr 9, 7-5
Yr 10, 9-3

That averages out to 8-4.

And that is why I don't get so distraught over a 6-6 or 5-7 season this year after being ranked in the Top-10 last year.
