Expectations

We all retain expectations about our football program, of course, and although I may believe someone else's expectations are unrealistic, I avoid being judgmental as we all come from a different perspective. But before I share my own expectations, here is the underlying perspective..
--I support all KSU sports (as donations confirm), but only deeply care about football--perhaps because I am familiar with the game, as a sparsely-talented but relentless participant. (I would not attend BB's Final Four, by the way, if it was held in my barn.)
--Post-Vietnam, I graduated in 1970, just when when we started winning some big games under my favorite KSU quarterback of all time, Lynn Dickey.
--I have almost never returned to Manhattan since departing, but our school has never left me. (I do go to bowl games, with the lady of the moment, in purple tow.)

Expectations:
--That our football program be honest, and our athletes and coaches embody strong character and integrity. In other words, that they be "K-State people." (And those who have been around well know what I mean by that characterization.) Check!
--That we be "competitive." In other words, that we win more than we lose, and frequently get invited to nice bowls. Check!
--That we always beat the snot out of KU. Check!

Now, having said all this, who do you think I believe is almost solely responsible for meeting the above personal expectations?

You know the answer.

He is in fact my personal hero.
