Expectations

We all have expectations for our football team, but considering this list is multi-generational, it should not surprise that expectations differ--and in many ways. And even within our own age groups, we differ, also understandable. As for me, I graduated from Kansas State in 1970 and have almost never returned, but I follow our football team as closely as if I still lived along the Smoky Hill River

As a loyal K-Stater, consistent donor, retired Federal and corporate investigator--and one who cares only about NCAA football--the following operating standards are personally most important for our program:

1. That the program be ethical, honest, and free of scandal, of any kind, and that other schools know and recognize that KSU plays it straight. (In life, there really is no other way.)
2. That we field good teams comprised of hard-nosed players who can give a lick, and take one, too. (I'll admit to being parochially proud when Kansas kids perform well on our behalf.)
3. That we be coached by men of integrity and ability.
4. That we win more than we lose, and often go to bowl games. (And the lady of the moment will then wonder why she is all-of-a-sudden wearing purple.)
5. That we beat KU every single time we play them. (The loathing for KU never diminishes, even after all these many years.) It is not important how badly we beat them, or not, It just matters that we win. Then, I am good for another year.

Coach Bill Snyder fulfills each and every one of the above standards, and even though he does not solicit (nor require) my approval, he can stay for as long as he wishes.
