First I do want to say, thanks to Bruce for all he put into the program over the Yr's, yes his tenure did not reach the expectations we'd all hoped he'd achieve. Or at least the disruptions over the Yr's were very unsettling to say the least. At least they were to this EMAW guy! Yes, there was some success and yet so much chaos. But all that I ever heard or was shared to me about Bruce is that he was and is a wonderful person so I don't want to denigrate him other than to say the product on the court over time was lacking and we all grew tired of that fact and it became very evident to this fan that we sorely needed a change as we didn't see progress for the future.
So I commend Gene on getting this hire done!
So now there does appear to be hope things can begin to improve. I, like so many of you have expressed, I too am excited to see what Coach Tang can bring and develop. From what I read (from this site), he seems to be a wonderful person and someone whom you'd be proud to see your son play for. It remains yet to be seen what can be the outcome. But there is hope and expectation, something we as fans have been lacking in our own personal perspectives regarding this program. We now believe we have something positive to look forward to, no doubt it will take some time to build a program that will be repetitious, but hopefully we will see progress in that direction. As I am less interested in seeing instant success but rather putting in place the building blocks that will produce a consistent strong conference competitive program and a program where we are in the NCAA tourney year after year.
But frankly I'm not only excited for basketball but also for football as I do believe Coack Kli and staff are making good progress to get that program back on track as well. Yes, football probably does take longer, but basic progress is being made, of that I have no doubt.
EMAW!!!
