Especially in regards to college playoffs. Since Boren's comments have set off a tidal wave of expansion talks, I think we need to center the discussion and make sure that everybody at least understands a few basics... Because we've had some woefully incompetent discussions... From my end, i'll try to seperate my feelings from facts, although in many cases, what may not "technically" be fact, is clearly the case....

FACTS

1. The BCS was only a system to determine the best 2 teams.
I'm shocked this still exists. But the BCS was a system that was somehow approved that actually made for a "fair" system that took away much of the potential biases of humans... However, it was constantly under attack, from being forced to take away margin of victory, to eventually having more and more human polls taking up bigger and bigger percentages

in almost every case of somebody getting screwed within the "bcs system", it was actually humans... K-State not getting a bcs bowl at #3 was humans not wanting to take them... when michigan got in over K-State... again, it was humans...

2. The playoff committee is evil... or at least a "puppet"

tosu getting in at 4, despite them winning it all, was the single worst thing to happen for schools like K-State.... clearly, they have been created to get us the "most interesting" matchup, not the most deserving...

this may sound like an opinion, but it's based on the evidence they provided

3. Expansion, in the eyes of the "committee"
With the death of the bcs, and the formation of the committee, the situation now is "name" is all that matters... tosu had the worst loss and the least impressive wins in terms of tosu, baylor and tcu.. and yet got in....

How does this relate to expansion? Even if you ignore the "a la carte" discussion, focusing just in on the playoff committee, you don't want to have more teams that can get screwed over if they good... Teams like wvu, cinci, and ecu (ecu... lol), who have no regional connection and basically are placeholders, have no value, in the context of the playoff, because they will get screwed unless they go undefeated

Opinions

1. "resumes" matter

Clearly, they don't... in regards to tosu getting in over either big12 school.... Names matter

2. Expansion is worthless
this is clearly clouded on my views with "a la carte"... but this conversation would seem to show every non power 5 add to be 100% a terrible idea
