1) The crowd was amazing the entire game. The student section FINALLY came back for a 2nd half and it showed with the noise level. The booing after that HORRIBLE phantom PI vs DJ was impressive - never have I ever heard booing be so loud and sustained in a game before. Well done to the folks who showed up, it was an awesome environment to be part of.
2) Hats off to Charles Jones. Guy ran hard, was pretty decisive for the most part, and got the job done. I have been pretty hard on Jones with wanting to see more Barnes/Warmack but he showed out on Saturday. Hopefully we can continue the rush trend.
3) To the people complaining about the defense, I am willing to bet not many defenses in the b12 will be able to slow them down much better than we did. I will say the 2nd half was so much better than the 1st half and I think the reason was we started pressing the WR's off the line a lot more and sent more blitzes. This defense is at it's best when we are pressing and being proactive vs reactive (sitting back 8 yards off). I was happy to see the change in the 2nd half and the pressure was awesome. I don't remember a time in recent years where we were able to get to a Tech QB so much during a game.
4) Ertz has happy feet in the pocket. There were times he had a solid pocket, nothing would be open and he would panic a bit by trying to scramble before he needed to. As the game went on, he settled down and played a better game. WR didn't help him out much imo.
5) WR - specifically Burton. It's time he starts sitting more imo. He has had some drops in about every game this year and that lack of effort from the onside deserves some bench minutes imo. If we are going to burn Suttons RS, lets get the guy some solid minutes and live with a few freshman mistakes - it's better than living with a few Sr mistakes imo.
6) Wildcat in the RZ. Can we please stop with it now? I think it's proven in the last two games vs p5 teams to be pretty worthless and stoppable. I was actually excited the first time they were going with it as they had Barnes in there with Dimel....then end of quarter and they pulled Barnes and Dimel got a yard or two on the play. I would much rather see us spread the defense out, run zone read plays more. It gives us better overall spacing and much better options as well.
Overall a great win, a must needed win imo! Now lets go into Norman and upset the gooners!!!!
