I ask you to look at the below records and provide me with a coherent argument as to why you think he can be successful here long term. These are records by him with rosters composed of mostly his recruits. In several of these years he had rosters with "potential" so please do not use the freshman as an excuse. In plenty of years they lost a lot of close games so don't use that as an excuse either. These are regular season and conference season records. In multiple years he was able to win multiple conference tournament games or NIT games to pad his win total and make them appear to be 20 wins seasons which is why I left them out.
Illinois - 2006/2007 21-10 (9-7) Lost in 1st round
Illinois - 2007/2008 13-18 (5-13) no post season
Illinois - 2008/2009 23-8 (11-7) lost in 1st round
Illinois - 2009/2010 18-13 (10-8) NIT
Illinois - 2010/2011 19-12 (9-9) Lost in 1st round
Illinois - 2011/2012 17-14 (6-12) no post season (fired)
Kansas State - 2013/2014 20-11 (10-8) lost in first round
Kansas State - 2014/2015 1 5-16 (8-10) no post season
In the last 8 full seasons he has coached at this level (with not having another coach's developed players to rely on) he is averaging 18.25 wins per year and 12.75 losses. When this year is complete, he will have only gone to the NCAA tournament 4 out of 9 tries. When he did get there, he has yet to win a game. In 8 tries he has only posted double digit league wins 3 times (soon to be 3/9).
What possible reason could anyone have for thinking this guy deserves another year or that he is a long term solution for us?
