What is the name of the former KU basketball player from Texas who had a fraudulent H.S. degree, as in, his high school doctored his transcript? Darrell Arthur? The reason I ask is that the KC Star has its panties in a wad because Diallo is being held up by the Clearinghouse. They are whining about the fact that he went to a prestigious prep school (which is also a basketball factory), speaks multiple languages, was supposedly on the honor roll, and is already enrolled and passing his classes at KU. Yesterday they suggested that eligibility decisions should be left to the university.
Isn't it interesting that the Star gets on this bandwagon when the situation involves a player at Kansas who is the missing piece to their Final Four hopes? I would like to point out to the Start that situations like Darrell Arthur is precisely why we need third party oversight. Mellinger acknowledges this, but yesterday's article suggested the school should be making the eligibility determinations. I would submit if that is the case that when they screw up as was proven in Arthur's case they should pay the penalty of having to forfeit titles and revenues for their lack of due diligence.
