How does everyone feel about the four-day work week some companies are experimenting with vs. the traditional five-day work week? Does anyone here have any personal experience with this?

I heard on the radio this morning about how some companies are experimenting with a four-day work week and have seen multiple benefits, such as:

  • Happier employees
  • Increased productivity/efficiency
  • Fewer costs
  • Fewer health issues
  • Better recruitment and retention
  • Less burnout
There are also the benefits to employees, such as more personal time, less commuting, etc. Obviously this type of schedule doesn't work for all companies and has its own set of cons, such as having to get more work done in a shorter period of time, but it sounds like something that we could see more and more of. Other companies are trying different approaches, such as letting employees choose when they come and go (as long as they get everything done/work a certain number of hours) or which days they want to be in the office.

I personally work a five-day work week, but am able to work one day per week from home, which can make it feel like a shorter work week. I definitely am happier, more productive and have more energy throughout the week when I take at least one day to work from home versus when I spend all five days in the office.
