Blair Sanderson of our Iowa site did a great job of getting this last night following Honas' official visit and shared it with me.
Junior college linebacker Will Honas is back in Kansas tonight after making his official visit to Iowa City over the weekend. For the 6-foot-2, 225-pound sophomore from Butler County Community College, it was his first trip to the University of Iowa and one that left a good impression.
“The coaches did a really good job of showing me around and explaining what the team and school mean to Iowa City,” said Honas. “It’s a cool place with a lot of good people.”
Honas had two hosts for the weekend in linebacker Josey Jewell and quarterback Nate Stanley, and said he got along with them really well. Talking with the coaches, Honas said that they want him to come in at middle linebacker and compete for playing time right away in the spring.
On Wednesday, Honas will have Kirk Ferentz, Phil Parker, and Seth Wallace stopping by to visit him. To date, Honas has taken official visits to Iowa and Kansas State this month, and then visited Arkansas earlier under their old coaching staff.
He has one more weekend to use (12/15) but hasn't decided where he wants to visit yet. Possibly could be Nebraska, who just offered last week after Frost was hired, but Honas said tonight that he was still unsure yet.
