Outside of kneel downs to kill the clock and one QB sneak our QBs/RBs have taken every snap out of either the pistol or the shotgun. It wasn't always this way. I was watching film from 2010 (back in the days of Daniel Thomas) and in that offense it appeared that we took 30%-40% of our snaps under Center. With our personnel this season I believe a move back under Center for a significant number of plays could be beneficial. Silmon has most of his success on traditional running plays such as dives, sweeps, and traps which (imo) are better executed when the QB is under center and the RB is moving forward with the snap. Our line seems to make better holes when we have players pulling which typically happens on sweeps and traps and less success with zone blocking (used primarily on zone read shotgun type of plays where the back is suppose to find the hole). I also think a move under center could help in the play action passing game.
Any thoughts?
