Hello, Chief_05!
It has certainly been a busy week, and I would like to start today by showing my appreciation to President Myers for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve as the Interim Athletics Director until the position is permanently filled. I pledge to work tirelessly to represent Kansas State University and the entire K-State Family with character, integrity and a passion for the pursuit of excellence.
I would be remiss if I also didn’t take a moment to thank John Currie for all that he has done for K-State – and me personally – while also congratulating him and wishing him the best as he returns to Tennessee after being named the Vols’ new vice chancellor and director of athletics. Thank you, John! And best wishes to you, Mary Lawrence and your entire family.
Here at K-State Athletics, we have an incredibly dedicated team of coaches, administrators and, most importantly, a group of student-athletes who work diligently every day to be the best they can be on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community. And that is what we will continue to do.
While we will always have challenges to overcome, I am confident that we will work together in the weeks and months ahead to meet those challenges head-on and continue to get a little better every day as we maintain focus on our student-athletes, coaches and teams by providing them with the support they need to be successful.
In addition to a few of our teams playing on the road this weekend, I hope you can make it out for our home tennis match this afternoon and three-game, home-opening baseball series Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Tointon Family Stadium – Coach Hill and the Cats are 6-2 on the year, including a win over No. 4-ranked South Carolina! And of course, Senior Day in Bramlage will be on Saturday as the men’s basketball team hosts Texas Tech at 12 p.m.Please come out to support D.J., Wesley, Austin, Carlbe and Zach as they play on our home court for the final time. I look forward to seeing you there. Please come by and say hello!
Thank you for genuinely caring and supporting the K-State Family and our student-athletes.
Go Cats!
