Will Varney's going under be a wakeup call to Mr. Dreiling to refresh his stores with KSU merchandise that people want? GTM seems to have most of their business in custom high school and club team gear, so maybe they are not as dependent on K-State gear. However, they suffer from the same Varney's syndrome of ugly and outdated K-State items.
I really hate spending all of my K-State apparel dollars outside of Manhattan at a KU owned store (Kansas Sampler/Rally House). But the fact is, Rally House has a lot more attractive items. I can find 10x more good K-State items in a tiny Rally House store with only 10% of the K-State square footage of GTM. They just carry significantly more trendy brands and styles.
Hopefully Mr. Dreiling seizes on this huge opportunity to let us spend our $$ in Manhattan rather than KU alum owned stores in Topeka and Kansas City
