Reading this board and hearing incidents in the news, this is a topic that hits close to home for all of us...no matter where you live. This is a huge issue with our children and the sports they play (it's not simply regulated to football). I wanted to share with everyone information about a non-profit organization that a very good friend of mine started after his son had to sit out a semester of college due to a concussion he received playing LB. My friend absolutely loves sports (he played LB at Dartmouth) but fears that we as a society are not aware of the head trauma sports can cause over the long term, no matter how minor the original incident incurred was. And worse yet, do not have a plan on how to heal the brain.

There are many organizations out there that help with preventing concussions but only one that is helping junior high, high school and college athletes with information on how to retrain your brain, help work to set up introductions to the best doctors, help with payments for specialists, etc. for everything that happens AFTER one receives head trauma. This organization is working with some of the top doctors and companies in the United States and using methods that many doctors don't think about such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (the results are amazing), etc.

The One Hit Away Foundation has been featured on the Today Show and written about by other foundations and papers, etc. I'm not asking you to donate (unless you would like to), I just want you to remember this organization so that if you know of a kid that has had head trauma and needs help with a plan of how to heal their brain, you can simply pass along this website. Accidents are going to happen and this is a wonderful organization that wants to teach and help you repair the accident.
