That wasn't fun. That second half was awful football to watch. You should never be bored in an in-state rivalry game, but that was a boring football game.
This team looked so completely discombobulated in the second half, it sucked all the life out of the stadium. Jones starts the game, does very little. Barnes is doing so well, then he scores and comes out. Then he's back in, breaking big runs and appears to get hurt so he sits. Then when nothing else is working, he's back in the game and is doing well again. Hubener is in, then he's out and Delton's in. Then he's back in again.
We call a pass on a 3rd and 1 for no apparent reason, then we decide to punt on 4th and 1, but change our minds after a timeout. You'd think QB sneak, right? NO! Shotgun QB delay with a gimped-up QB! Brilliant!
The offense has ZERO identity, the RB rotation seems to be drawn out of a hat, when we get on a roll with something, we go away from it and we insist that the only play we should run with our RSFR QB is a QB keeper. Not to mention that as soon as we're inside the 10 yard line, it's clear that #38 will get 2 or 3 chances to score a TD. EVERY SINGLE TIME. There's no way that happens if he isn't the OC's kid.
Bill Snyder is clearly a legend and deserves to coach here as long as he wants to, but his offensive staff is letting him down. Dimel has been completely bipolar for the past 3 years. If changes aren't going to be made to the assistant coaching staff, then it's time to look to the future, because like it or not, LHCBS is going to retire sometime soon and doing so now gives the next guy a great chance to succeed immediately and build off the momentum we have.
