After a week-long vacation, I have returned. I know there have been a few threads requesting information on the final scholarship. I appreciate everyone's patience and multiple posters providing information while I was gone. Here is a little skinny of what I know right now:

K-State offered scholarships at a high rate during the live period for 2017, 2018 and 2019 prospects. This usually happens, but the staff got a pretty nice head start even before the flood of offers. I thought @Underdog Wildcat did a great job listing the 2017 prospects here. I have a running list very similar to that in a separate document and have already compiled a bunch of numbers. I've been in contact with prospects like RaiQuan Gray and Darien Jackson and will begin to provide updates very soon.

As for the final scholarship for 2016, there has been no real movement or heavy pursuit lately, but I expect there to be fairly shortly. I think any other year, going to get a player like Jimmy Whitt would have been a no-brainer, but, honestly, this staff doesn't need to add another body to that already large freshman class and likely needs some immediate help for next season. So it's understandable why there wasn't much of a push for Whitt before he transferred to SMU. Other prospects with K-State interest before like Marvin Clark (St. John's) and Michael Gilmore were/are not likely, either. Taking a freshman or freshman transfer isn't really logical.

Utah State's Lew Evans is visiting Tennessee this weekend. Bethune Cookman's LaRon Smith just transferred to Auburn. Those were two names and grad transfers that came up before, and I think there is a possible sneaky piece to add to this equation.

His name is Norville Carey from Southern Miss. There's not much out there on Carey, a senior grad transfer originally from British Virgin Islands, but he has left the program and was awarded his release a couple of weeks ago. This is an interesting prospect and a perfect fit. At 6-foot-7 and 228 pounds, Carey is long and athletic, and averaged 10.8 and 5.6 rebounds as a junior in 2014-15. He elected to redshirt last season with the sanctions surrounding the program in order to play in the NCAA Tournament and it didn't work out. Now he is on the market.

Here are his junior highlights:

All along, K-State has been looking for a prospect to help with the role played solely by walk-on Austin Budke this year. Carey fits that stretch four well. He is tough, athletic and can step out and shoot. It's a name to watch, for sure.

In regards to the vacant coaching position, it's been relatively quiet there, too. And much like the final scholarship, I expect some rumors and people to pop up soon. I'll be on it and be sure to post anything here first.

Also, I still need to interview and write stories on 2016 signees Xavier Sneed and James Love before they arrive. Be on the lookout for those as well.
