both need a win.
The Horns have taken it on the chin in their last 2 games.
Loss at home to UConn and then loss by 8 in Lubbock this past Saturday.
No doubt the Horns will be hungry for a win.
Obviously the CATS need a win to avoid a potential 0 & 3 ... or 0 & 4 or 0 & 5 or 0 & 6 start in the Big 12.
K-State will face 4 of the 5 ranked Big 12 teams in their first 6 games.
The other two games are against Texas in Austin (this Tues.) and then home against a Texas Tech.
Tech is playing pretty good basketball right now. So yes, 0 & 6 is not completely out of the question. Even if the CATS were to start with an 0 & 6 record, I don't see K-State losing to Okie State in Manhattan to go 0 & 7...ha.
But I have my fingers crossed that K-State can beat a determined Texas team this Tuesday and should be able to protect home court against Tech.
Winning at OU might be a reach given OU's experience & skill... but if K-State improves during the season, they can give OU a game in the Octagon on Feb 6.
You often hear a coach say by the time you get to February, your freshmen are no longer freshmen... lets hope are freshmen continue to develop & improve.
Put it this way, at this point in time, I would be very happy with a 2 & 2 record to begin Big 12 play.
It still sucks that K-State didn't pull off the win against WV... as Weber noted, K-State had their chances. Make free throws or shots... and the CATS had two or three unforced TOs that hurt in the second half. And though it didn't look like Iwundu got hit very hard to tie the game, I think there was body contact and the ref swallowed his whistle.
GO STATE !!
