Any of you grow up in North KC and know any of the KC mafia families? Sacamano, Civilla, Cammisano Sciortino, Simone, et al? Lots of those guys went to St. Pius X Catholic high school growing up and lived in an area east of Riverside north of the river.
I grew up in the late 60's, 70's and early 80's when a lot of stuff went down, including the take down of the Vegas money laundering deal from Vegas and the bombing of the River Quey (sp.). I never knew it until recently but a friend's dad, who was a psychiatrist and lived on the Plaza, got in a financial pinch and borrowed from the mafia. He told me how he watched some guys come and take his mom's Mercedes and his dad's Range rover from their garage. He was perplexed why his dad was so eager to turn over the keys. This was about 1977.
