I know this sounds insane (and it is insane), but how would you feel about a scenario where we hire Sean to be the HC and pay him roughly $400k per year......and offer BV the DC position and pay him $4 million a year? That would be completely outside the box......but to me that accomplishes several things:
1. We get Brent into our program which is what we really want and need. The recruiting bump alone would be drastic.
2. Brent would more than double his income but he still can just do what he does best. He doesn't have to bear the burden of HC responsibility or being the guy that follows Bill Snyder. If Sean doesn't run the program well.....BV is just sitting there and can take over at that point if he wants
3. Bill Snyder is happy that Sean gets to lead the program
The obvious downside is that potential OC candidates might not like having another coordinator get paid millions while they make $400k.......but we could definitely work around that. You can take a flyer on CK and let him do it.
Clemson would obviously pay him more to keep him. But how much more? Are they really going to pay Brent $4 million a year to be their DC?
