On Thursday afternoon, there was just remarkable clinical data reported on the diabetes drug Jardiance. For the first time ever we now have a drug that not only lowers insulin levels but also significantly lowers the risk of death for diabetics and by an "eye-popping" 40%!
I talked with a couple of cardiologist this weekend and they were gushing over the benefit for their diabetic patients.
In most type 2 diabetic drugs physicians just hope the therapy doesn't increase the risk of death. That is what makes this large 7000 patient study so stunning. It may be the largest breakthrough in type 2 diabetes ever. And ever is a long time!
Given the demographics of the subscribers on this site I presume there are a number of type 2 diabetics that might care about this clinical result. Just passing on as a heads-up for those where this might be relevant.
