There are have been many great basketball teams come to Manhattan but Sunday's WBB game against UCONN ranks with the best of them.
--The Russian Olympic team vs Kstate in Ahearn ranks near the top. I still remember Fred White's call of the last few minutes of the game on the radio and I've never heard a crowd that loud and I listened to, and attended many games in Ahearn.
--Some of the games against highly ranked KU teams have to be at the top of the list.
--If you go back in history, UCLA visited Manhattan in December 1963 and beat K-state. The teams played again in an NCAA final four semi-final game in Kansas City the next spring. A game that UCLA won. UCLA won the next night again Duke to go undefeated and win the first of John Wooden's 11 national championships. Wooden said his 1963-64 team came as close to reaching their maximum potential as any team he ever coached which is high praise considering his expectations and standards for excellence .
--Sunday's game against the most dominant program ever in women's basketball with one of the all time great basketball coaches should be a lot of fun.
