So, something Jeff and I learned in some conversations this week that we didn't know was that Del Miller had a lot of responsibility around third downs in his role as Co-OC.
We all know he was the passing game coordinator, but what we got from a source this week was that Miller spent a lot of his time on first and second downs preparing what pass play would be called on third down depending on the down and distance K-State appeared on track to be in. And, without that, there's been a little more difficulty on third downs - which the numbers have shown all year.
Also heard some thought that this has caused a lot less creativity/diversity in the types of routes that are being ran, since less time is being devoted to the play-call of third down throughout the series.
