During the presser that just completed someone asked him on his view of the proposal the Jayhawk conference just voted down to increase the number of out of state scholarships each program can have and that effects his walk on program.

1. The more out of state players on scholarship at jucos, the less Kansas kids that are on scholarship. That makes them more available to walk on and more willing to walk on if they aren't going to get playing time at juco.

2. However, with more out of state players coming into Kansas jucos that brings more schools to Kansas to recruit those players.... and then those coaches discover the Kansas kids playing juco ball that they otherwise might not know about.

** my interpretation of what he said - the more out of state scholarship players at the Kansas jucos the more competitive the recruiting is for all kids at those jucos because the out of state players draw more programs from their home areas to Kansas to recruit them and then those coaches see everyone else that is on those teams.

3. One of the things Snyder likes about recruiting Kansas high school kids is that most of them usually still have a very high ceiling of growth still available to them because of the restrictions Kansas places on the sport and the programs. They haven't grown and developed as much as a high school player and thus he gets to do that with them once they are in Manhattan and then he can develop them like he wants them.

** my interpretation of what he said - that concept works as long as you are a coaching staff that is good as identifying the kids that do still have a high ceiling of potential and then as a staff you are very good teachers and developers of players. Snyder and his staff is very good at both of those things and that probably explains better than anything why it always seems that he is over achieving with the players he has.
