I really have enjoyed it in seasons past when you guys who break down film give a detailed analysis of the games before they are played. I am taking my 9 year old son to this one in Ames and would enjoy reading your thoughts on this matchup!
To me, Iowa State has the talent to hang with us. Are they beaten down from a string of losses? They seem to be hitting their typical QB development wall. Both guys they are using have looked decent to me early in the season, but it appears they are regressing somewhat? I see flashes of talent and plenty of effort from them across the board.
We were there a couple years ago when we messed around and pulled a gimpy Tyler Lockette early in the first half after we took a 13 point lead. ISU got some momentum and we got buried deep in a hole. We had quite a comeback in the second half after Lockette re-entered the game. If not for the heroics of Randall Evans stripping the ball from ISUs all big 12 TE on the way to the ground after a game clinching first down reception, we would have lost that one. The place was rocking leading up to that play. I have never left such a quite stadium in my life. You could hear a pin drop with the exception of the sliver of ksu fans raising hell in the opposing corner of the stadium across from us (Yes we sat in the midst of a sea of angry fans LOL).
I sincerely hope that we do not find a creative way to keep the Clones and their crowd in this one to the end. We need to go for the throat early. We are due for a close one to tip their way if we keep it close.
