I know this isn't the first time this has been discussed but I thought it would be nice to get everyone's thoughts in one thread.
Venables said what was expected of a DC for the #1 team in college football when asked about rumors. He is not looking and he is perfectly content with his situation and focused on the season.
There has been speculation about why Venables hasn't taken an HC position somewhere. I mean he has been a top flight DC and recruiter for two nationally relevant programs in addition to his duties on the coaching staff under Snyder during one of the program's peaks.
Does he just not have any interested in being an HC?
Has no program offered him an HC position? And if so, is that realistic?
Or is Venables just biding his time and waiting for Snyder to retire?
It would not be out of the realm of possibility that KSU is his dream coaching job, with a chance to come back home and build upon the foundation that Snyder built. I don't know. I will admit looking through purple colored glasses. But when Snyder retires, I think Venables would be a home run hire. I couldn't care less if he did or didn't do anything out of bounds - the rumors abound, but time goes on and heals all wounds especially when we are talking about Snyder's successor. Could we ask or hope for any better candidate who hasn't had head coaching experience?
Just my thoughts. Care to add yours?
Happy Monday!
