RECRUITING UPDATE
Eight-man Kansas lineman gets attention
One of the more underrated players during the Mike Gundy coaching era at Oklahoma State was offensive tackle Brady Bond, who played eight-man football at Garber High School. Bond was the first prospect to have committed to OSU for the recruiting class of 2005, so he actually committed to the Les Miles-coached Cowboys, but he signed with Gundy. Bond was rated a two-star recruit by Scout, but by the end of his career, he had made 40 starts.
Now, another eight-man high school star — Isaiahh Loudermilk — is on the Cowboys’ radar. At 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds, Loudermilk hails from Howard, Kansas, and attends West Elk High School. In August, he and several family members attended a Cowboy preseason practice at the Sherman E. Smith Training Center. When an errant pass sailed out of bounds, Loudermilk’s sister, Raeven, made a nice catch. More recently, on Sept. 19, Loudermilk was at Boone Pickens Stadium to watch OSU defeat UTSA.
Among schools that reportedly have offered scholarships are OSU, Kansas State, Missouri, Kansas, Oregon, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Arizona State and Colorado. If geography is a factor in the decision — if Loudermilk wants to stay close to home and family — OSU would seem to have an advantage. From his home in Howard, Stillwater is a 135-mile drive. OSU is closer to Howard than any of the other schools that have offered scholarships.
Loudermilk’s West Elk Patriots team is 4-0 and hosts Sedan on Friday night.
