I was perusing my media guide and was caught a little off-guard at some numbers posted by Jesse Ertz. I'm not sure I truly appreciated what a great rushing QB he is.
He would sit at 3rd amongst all rushers behind Darren and James Johnson in career yards per carry if he had enough attempts to qualify. He has 182 attempts and you need 200 which he will no doubt eclipse this year.
He sits at 5.53 ypc. Darren is at 6.11 and JJ at 5.55. Ell is 10th at 4.67 and will be knocked out of the top ten this year by Ertz unless something truly odd happens. Michael Bishop doesn't make the top ten.
He was 129 yards short of Collin Klein's season yardage record for a quarterback on 134 fewer carries.
He's already at 24th on the all-time career total rushing yards at KSU and can easily break into the top 10 by the end of the season.
If he can improve his passing game to even become an average passer, he will could easily go down as one of the all time great quarterbacks at KSU. At the very least, the best rushing QB, we have ever seen at KSU. Time to appreciate what we have.
