What is the appeal? I see many fans placing him as the first or second option to replace Snyder, and don't get the appeal.
He is old.
He has minimal ties to the area. He has never coached in the Big 12. He left KSU prior to the formation of the conference. He has been gone for 22 years. In that time he has not really spent much time in the region. He spent two years at CU, but that was after they had joined the PAC 12.
His HC experience is just OK and his tenure at S. Florida ended very badly. He did a great job of building the program but once the foundation was laid the results were pretty average. His conference record as a HC is 25-26. His best conference finish as a HC was a tie for 3rd. He had losing conference records each of his last two years at USF. His tenure at USF ended after an investigations found that he struck a player, misled the schools investigators (and his bosses), and encouraged others to lie to the investigators.
What makes him a great HC candidate for KSU?
