Man, tonight just thinking about that recruiting class of 2014 and if we would've hit on any of those JUCO kids and how it might have changed our recruiting philosophy. Witnessed us swinging for the fences and a national title and ended with us barely hitting bowl game status.
Terrell Clinckscales - was supposed to be a big steal away from Nebraska. Showed up overweight and according to him on Twitter he had a knee injury that first year plus a conflict with coaching and conditioning staff. Whiff.
Dvonte Derricott - according to multiple sources was the real deal at practice and was supposed to start playing the Auburn game. Good or bad Dakorey Johnson played instead and the red-shirt decision was made, end of story.
Isiah Riddle - not much too tell but a lot thought he would play early and often. Red-shirt and gone.
Luke Hayes - supposed to be our future left tackle but was apparent he was misdiagnosed and moved to guard making us move Cody Whitehair
AJ Allen - supposed to be one of our starting tackles. Hasn't even cracked a starting rotation.
Andre Davis - supposed to be that speed receiver that helped put us over the top. Instead stone hands with minimal playing time and knee problems.
Danzel McDaniel - excellent player his first year but knee injuries and "other" issues his senior year made him an after thought.
Everyone on this list was supposed to be an impact starter their first year and we whiffed on all seven of them. Luke Hayes was a starter the first year but by necccesity and nothing more. Everybody else was just kind of there. Can't be a quality team and do what we did which makes sense on our new JUCO recruiting strategy. Just a guy talking tonight...nothing more.
