Most agree that K-State should have gone for on 4 & 1 (myself included). The coaches decided to trust in the defense and it didn't work out.
And yes, offensively it seemed like K-State went away from what worked so well in the 1st half.
Though some tend to forget the marvelous job the coaches did in preparing the CATS the last 2 weeks. And of course the Okie State game had the unexplainable gaffe by the chain gang. The missed FG right before half...etc...etc..
K-State doesn't have the overall talent that TCU has right now.
If you want to complain about the coaches, complain that they haven't recruited better, which has never been easy in Manhattan, Kansas. This past year, K-State only signed one juco kid (added a couple late). I believe Snyder has made the move to more HS kids versus going hard on the juco ranks. Of course, more and more programs recruit the juco ranks these days, which has made the pickens much slimmer. It will be interesting to see if K-State goes back into the juco ranks more this year and next.
But back to talent:
K-State is starting a walk-on at QB that didn't play QB in high school.
K-State is starting a RB that was a walk-on.
We will never know, but I can't help but wonder what Jesse Ertz would be doing at QB right now had he not been hurt (he clearly won the starting job).
But just imagine for a moment if K-State had a player of Boykin's caliber at QB right now.... we wouldn't have had close losses, we would have had big wins... we are talking one player, well the most important position on the field.
And nothing against Hubener, he's is showing some improvement and he is doing the best that he can with his God given abilities.
Some posters just don't realize how good K-State has it with the Legend at the helm. He's the only coach that has sustained success in HISTORY of K-State football. And I don't even need to get into what he's done for the university and Manhattan. I don't know how much longer the Legend will coach, but I'm going to enjoy it as long as it lasts.
GO STATE !!
