Learned this evening that K-State has been looking into Kaelin Key with more interest.
Key, a 6-foot-1, 283-pound defensive lineman, is the reigning EKL Defender of the Year and was awarded 1st-Team All-State 4A-I as well as a spot on Wichita Eagle's Top 11 team (best 11 players in the state, regardless of classification).
As a senior at Bishop Miege, he posted 102 total tackles, 31 for loss, nine sacks, and four forced fumbles en route to a state championship.
Key currently holds scholarship offers from SEMO, NW Missouri State, and Missouri Western but is a hot commodity as a walk-on target with major programs.
Kaelin tells me he plans to visit Kansas State this weekend and the Wildcats plan to discuss what opportunity they're willing to present at that point (scholarship or preferred walk-on).
