Soren Petro was beating the Kelvin Sampson drum for either Missouri or Kansas State on his show today. Most believe he is a disgraced coach due to multiple run ins with the NCAA. He got in trouble at OU for making 550 impermissible phone while at Oklahoma, and then again at Indiana for participating in conference calls when he was banned for making outbound phone calls.....and for texting recruits. I sort of forgot just how good he was.
At Washington State he turned around an absolute loser of a program and was named Pac-12 coach of the year and took them to the NCAA tournament before heading to OU.
At Oklahoma he made the tournament in 9 out of 10 seasons. He went to a Sweet 16, an Elite 8 and a Final 4. He finished 3rd or better in the Big 12 in 8 out of 10 seasons. He won the Big 12 tournament title 3 times and made the finals in 5 out of the 10 seasons he coached.
At Indiana, they went to the tournament his first season and then were 22-4 when he was dimissed.
After one year at Houston, he took a 13-17 team and now has them at 13-3.
