I posted some of this in another thread... but wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this basketball season.
First, most everyone was happy or at least content with non-con performance by the basketball team.

K-State loss at home against a ranked team in double over time to begin Big 12 play. It was a tough loss.
K-State loss another close game against Texas in Austin last night.

K-State loss both games largely due to poor shooting and the inability to make a big play at game's end.
You can throw in some weak TOs at critical times and awful free throw shooting against WV.
K-State shot 16% (3 of 19) from 3 pt land in both games.
Wesley and Stokes were a combined 1 of 12 from the floor against Texas...ouch !

As Weber was quoted, the only way to improve shooting is to spend extra time in the gym. The players are getting good looks, that's not the issue. And it's not like the players need to be taught how to shoot the ball. Hopefully this team will improve their 3 pt shooting going forward.

K-State has 2 freshmen that start (3 freshmen play a lot).
Texas had 4 seniors and a junior that started.
WV had one freshman that played 14 minutes.
I believe in Big 12 play that makes a little difference (especially early in the Big 12 season).

I don't know if K-State & Weber are going to have a lot of success this year... only time will tell.
But coaching has not been bad and effort has been good.

If you want to criticize Weber, you can criticize his recruiting, but again, we are only 2 games into the Big 12 season.

Yes, K-State needs another big man. Maurice (NCAA clearing house) and Dante Williams (foot) are not available. I'm sure Weber and Staff knew that Maurice might be an eligibility issue, but I'm guessing they did not expect Dante's foot injury (a 7 footer).

Again, you can criticize Weber if you want about recruiting, though I really like Stokes, Brown, & Wade. Heck, I really like Iwundu, DJ, & Edwards too.

Lets not forget that Bruce & Staff had to replace 5 players (actually 6 players), who they didn't know that they were going to need to replace until it was very late in the recruiting process... Marcus Foster, M. Harris, T. Harris, Jevon & Nigel. Add Bolden, who suffered a career ending injury. When you have to suddenly recruit 5 or 6 players and it's already March, there is typically only table scraps available. Weber & Staff had commits from 3 players to replace Big Gip & Nino -- Wade, Brown, & Dante Williams, who committed in 2014. Bruce has a Top 100 kid coming in next year.

I don't know if Weber is going to work out, but you have to admit, Weber had to deal with some odd circumstances at the end of last season. Your star player decides he would rather party than work ... taking teammates down with him. It was really unfair to Nino & Big Gip to have their senior seasons screwed because of the actions of Marcus and his freshman posse.

As hard as it is for Weber haters... can we let the Big 12 season play out some before we burn our coach at the stake for poor shooting.

GO STATE !!
