I realize that this is an anonymous college sports message board and essentially a whole bunch of adults screaming their every thought down into a well. The vigor and almost rabid postings is a sign of people that care about the success of our program. That is why I am posting this, I care about our program too. There are multiple layers of perspectives that make up our fan base now: grads from the 1950's through 2016, local Kansans and fans that our success and brand has picked up along the way. I know that my opinion is biased by my own perspective of being a 3rd generation KSU homer that was lucky enough to wear the KSU uniform and go on to make money coaching the sport that enrages and excites so many people.

I think that we all share the same goal: Grow our program into the best program in the country. We can absolutely accomplish this. Nebraska did it from a similar geographic and demographic situation, Norman Oklahoma isn't a national destination and Lawrence KS (Bball) isn't the land of Oz. We aren't much different from any of those places where national powers were born (they weren't always powers), cultivated and branded into an almost permanent fixture into the national landscape.

This isn't the NFL. It takes time and it takes a building mentality/culture that donors and fans must adopt in order to harness our momentum and progress most efficiently. We have built a solid foundation from where we were in the 80s. We can continue to take steps forward or we can become a cess pool of reactionary instant and self gratifying people that work against the culture and environment that we need in order incubate our growing program into a perennial power.

This doesn't say that we can't be critical in our analysis of games, play calling, recruiting or what have you. But lets not burn down the house and rebuild it every time we aren't happy with the wall paper. Snyder is truly a visionary that has had a long term approach to building our program from the beginning. A time lapse of the past 3 decades would leave any other program in the dust. We are growing faster than anyone.

I don't think it is time to make a change. We are not at a spot yet in our growth that we can reload every year like Ohio State, Florida, Bama, OU etc. We will have rebuilding years. If we keep growing these rebuilding years will be 8, 9 or 10 wins. We are a couple of years away from a good run. Last year was a true rebuild in which we replaced a QB with an underclassmen that got hurt, who was replaced by a walk on that struggled. This year we are starting a new QB who is showing signs of being a very good one. We have a stable of young playmakers at the skill positions and our young inexperienced OL has been a pleasant surprise. On defense we look to have worked our way into having a good DL with a youthful future, we have a handful of young promising DBs and will return a very good LB.

We are building towards a very good run in 17,18 and 19 which will no doubt push our program even further. Snyder may retire somewhere in that span and hopefully it is a smooth and positive transition that will allow the incoming coach to bring his own brand but continue to build on what we have built.

College sports are awesome. It is a true equity growth story. We have to keep making our systematic deposits as a program and over time we will grow beyond what we thought was possible. From time to time there is a need to rebalance and remap our strategy but knee jerk reactionary opinions usually compound losses. No where else do fans have such a big impact on the success of sports teams. This is our program and we have the ability to build new facilities, hire new coaches and build our brand into what we want it to be. If we do become a cess pool of entitled whiny clown farts, we will get what Texas has w/o the ability to bounce back.
