I have little to say about the game and will not comment about individual players.
I think most KSU men's basketball fans and school alum can see what we are witnessing. That includes all Weber apologists and supporters and any GPC staff who are behind him. I understand the youth of this team and it is new. I also understand that many who like Weber - and I like him, he is a good man and knows xs and os. But there is one thing to say about this - this is the wrong system for the personnel you have.
Now before some apologist gets on here and say, "we'll be older next year, our young guys will be better. Remember we have some recruit coming in." Listen -- no matter who comes back, who comes in, if the system stays the same and your players don't fit that system, you'll get similar results in 2016-17 season with MAYBE 1 to 3 more wins.
I'm not going to discuss the game. The system and players don't fit together. Do you eventually blow roster up again? No, but since Weber will be back one more year, unfortunately results will be similar. I see him finish out next year and that is when you make the change. I know some so badly want him to stay and even "I" want him to succeed. But Bruce's system and the players he has and coming in, don't match. He really is not long term. Those who are so adamant in wanting him to stay, step back and look at big picture. Even with the young guys and recruits coming in, do you truly in your heart believe Bruce will put them in right position to be successful with "his system "?
We don't have to have great athletes, but we have to have a system they can thrive. Jeff Mittie, Bill Snyder, Brad Hill, Suzie Fritz do to some degree. Even past coaches like Deb Patterson, Dana Altman, Jack Hartman, Lon Kruger - even said it was tough to recruit to Manhattan, and Lynn Hickey and on I could go. They had systems and they worked. Even Huggins took Woolridge players and they were average. But it was their systems that worked.
I'll continue to support the school and program as much as possible and encourage others to do the same. But in reality, this is "the wrong system " for KSU basketball going forward. To all apologists moving forward, try not to get blinded by what looks to be more reality than some alum or fans mouthing off.You are witnessing what KSU mbb has become and will be, even next with a year older and additional bodies, we hope. Yes Bruce is a good man. Yes Bruce can xs and os the game. Yes he can get a recruit or two at times. But if you don't have "the system " that fits it, you are going in circles.
And finally, I see only 1 if they get lucky, 2 more wins rest of year.
