KU athletics director Dr. Sheahon Zenger said he will have drawings finished in the next three weeks on renovation for Memorial Stadium.

The drawings/renderings will be completed and plan to be shown to the public in September Zenger told Jayhawk Slant just minutes ago. The total cost of everything is approaching $300 million.

One thing Zenger has said is he wants to do things that will build the football program the fastest. That's why last year he got the meeting rooms, locker rooms, player's lounge, and digital screens above the lockers done in time for the season.

Zenger said he wants to do things in order what Beaty believes will get football going in the right direction. One of those is a new indoor facility which Zenger said should have been done 10-20 years ago.

"The renovations will begin with a new indoor facility," Zenger said.

He also added the stadium will not be torn down but renovated.

New chancellor Doug Girod was in attendance and spoke to the crowd.

The headline speaker was David Beaty who addressed the Kansas alums about the program. Shortly after he was done talking he gave the following comment to Jayhawk Slant about the stadium and indoor facility news.

"Finalizing the plans that would start with an indoor facility and move into stadium renovations would be huge for our program," Beaty told Jayhawk Slant. "Dr. Zenger has worked tirelessly to give us the competitive tools necessary to thrive in the current environment. He has answered the bell time and time again for our program and has consistently shown his commitment to excellence in football."
