Isn't the signing day for basketball in April? I'm not referring to the early signing period, but the so-called "last" one. I understand that there are reasons why an athlete may not be ready to commit during the traditional signing period, but am I crazy, or are there not more and more top-level recruits waiting until May and June to make their decisions? This gums up the whole system, 'cause schools like Kentucky and Kansas are forced to wait for the studs eventually to commit, which starts the dominoes falling. K-State must wait for a kid to decide if Kentucky or KU or someone else high on his list want him, while other upper echelon programs also wait to know which 5-star players have selected them. It seems to me that there is plenty of time for every school to recruit and for the players to decide, so I conclude that the delay is caused by top dogs who enjoy the attention given to them in the social media, no, the entire sports media, prior to their public announcements to adoring fans regarding where they will be "scholar athletes." Sorry, I forgot, most of these guys are one-and-done players, or want to be, so they will take an easy schedule in semester one, and fail to attend any classes after the NCAA tournament in the spring as they prepare for the NBA draft. It's no wonder that there are so many transfers these days. Top-level players, and not just 4 and 5 star prospects, behave more like professional free agents than college students.
