I thought K-State's defense was not as bad as it may have seemed.
Night & day better in the second half.
Are there some concerns and issues? Absolutely
Can the defense be fixed? Yes
As Snyder joked, the defense didn't act like they knew how to play the option.
The defense did a poor job of containing the edges.
3rd down was a killer.

In a backward kind of way, the game may end up being a very good thing for the defense = they realize that they have much to work to do to improve, but on the positive side, the defense adjusted and played much better.
Had K-State played a poor team like SEMO, the defense would have likely dominated and not realized that they have work to do.

One last point, K-State gave up over 60 yards rushing in the last 3 plays of the first half and the last 2 plays of the game (when in prevent mode). It was like UCA just wanted to rack up rushing yards versus try to make a big pass play to get in scoring position.

New Defensive Starters:
Trent Tanking played a solid game = led the team in tackles with 9.
Tanner Wood played well (not great, but not too bad).
Jayd Kirby was a mixed bag. He took a bad angle on the 40-yard touchdown run, but made some nice plays.
Cre Moore = seemed like he was in & out (inconclusive).
Denzel Goolsby played well, he recorded 7 tackles.

Potential New Starters:
In limited play, I thought Hughes, Sullivan, and Walker looked impressive.
Hughes & Sullivan each had 3 tackles in a short amount of time.
Walker had 2 tackles.
Walker looks like a beast.
Granted, these guys played when the game was basically over, but looked good (fast).

Patton and Bronson Massie did not play.

I believe it's going to be hard to keep Sullivan & Walker off the field.
