Let's just take KSU's announcement at face value for a minute.

Let's just assume that KSU has no other motive other than exactly what the announcement states. We're not suppose to assume that they are lying, right? This implies that John Currie has been waiting with baited breath to find out if we even have a head coach for next season. It also sets a precedent that Coach Snyder is going to sit down at the end of every season and assess whether he's going to coach another year. These are the parameters that our coaching staff, who are a bunch of bang up recruiters anyway, are recruiting under for next season. At least in the past we could say that we had no idea how much longer he will coach. Shoot! He could coach another 5 years! Now other programs simply direct recruits to this announcement.

Just my humble opinion, but there sure as hell better be a plan and it would be wise to make it public, or the next guy coming in is going to have his work cut out for him from a talent perspective. If there is no plan and we are truly just year to year waiting for Bill to sit down with his family after every season, I certainly won't expect recruiting to get any better.

Wouldn't it have made sense to make an announcement that "Bill Snyder is healthy, eager, and will be our coach indefinitely and have no reason to think he won't be our coach for the foreseeable future? We'd like to make this clear for all of you who have asked and shown interest during this last football season." If that isn't the truth, wouldn't it be better to just say nothing at all, at least until after signing day?

For those of us that have a hard time believing that BV is returning to take over the defense and be HCIW next season, the announcement that was made is certainly a head-scratcher and doesn't seem to be in the football program's best interest three weeks before signing day or for any reason for that matter. All it is saying is that our coach is old and he will be coaching our team next year at least as long as his health allows. After that, we honestly have no idea.
