Had an opportunity to watch the Cats play and actually sat near high school coaches that attend the game to see former players play. I want to preface this post that were lucky to have the legend for many reasons and I will throw a few perspectives out there. I realize that we have many on this board that will at some point revolutionize the game with their deep /vast knowledge of the game and my perspectives may or may not be valid.
1. Cody Cook- I cant imagine loosing your last starting QB on the road with a hostile environment and attempting to implement one of the most sophisticated offenses that exist. All the QB's meet- study & practice the infinite details on a year round basis. It's no secret that dude was a starter and his teeth cut years ago as a walk-on QB. To jump in and engineer scoring drives against a defense on a top 20 team is simply the epitome off all 16 goals for success.
OSU - perspective "typical Snyder" pull a walk on with minimal prep and embarrass the whole damn defense." They were very critical of there coordinators! Hmmmm must just be a holistic picture only way to become a coordinator is too be a total embicle.
Morgan Burns- if I would have brought a shovel I would have tossed it to that dude. It's easy to be angry when a dude is getting toasted and ultimately gets a piece of the loss pinned on him. Bob Stoops always said two points to remember when your playing press-man corner.
1. When you make a mistake the opposing band is gonna play!
2. No matter how good you are you will suffer the moments that last forever when a QB is having a better day and your guy makes the contested catch.
OSU- perspective from high school coaches. That K-State front 6 is AWESOME! The vast majority of the time a defense that shuts down the run will win the game. That theory applies from little league to NFL. Having Dante Barnett would have been a huge confidence booster to Morgan Burns in terms of assignment integrity. At the end of the day Morgan Burns left it on the field with all he had. One other thought is he faced dudes when it counted that were better than what he faces in practice! I'm intrigued what his performance results would have been if he could have faced Lockett all week to prepare.
3. Points off Turnovers.
When you throw the Back-Ups ... Back-ups - Back-Up in that type of game to put it mildly I would be pissed as a defensive coordinator that with all the precision footwork invoiced with a QB and redshirt freshman running back that we couldn't create one stinking turn over beyond the errant Hail Mary at the end of the game.
OSU perspective- these guys don't make mistakes and on the road with noise and inexperience that's incredible! We have our starting QB do something stupid on a forced turnover to give a double digit lead.
4. The third Quarter resembled the movie Ground Hog Day. For the vast majority of the quarter is what 3 downs and punt with the exception OSU had better field position for most of that. Many fans roasted Dimel for lack of production. I will give Joe Bob Clements more credit than blame to Dimel. On the OSU post game Gundy was asked what was the greatest factor that lead to the win despite K-States obvious injury issues. Gundy said our defensive coaches made some incredible adjustments that neutralized the QB run game. He said Cook's number and said that kid ran really well. Not many coaches in the league could have created such sound crucial adjustments without the benefit of being on the staff for years and knowing the philosophical principles for creating adjustments and having a fairly limited depth chart of impact players that Dimel could counter with.
OSU perspective- those dudes left at half time pissed off at there teams performance. I estimate 25-30% of the chair backs on South side were vacant after half.

Conclusion- K-State played there butts off - indicative off all the 16 goals off success. The K- State coaches utilized what they had and competed on the road against a top twenty team. I realize that my perspectives can be viewed as factors or excuses. At the end of the day many teams would have focused on the obstacles of personnel and the playing environment and cashed in. I admire the resilience and pride to improve.
