For those old enough to remember what was it like for Kansas State:
To be in the NC game in 1951 vs. Kentucky (Minneapolis, MN Williams Arena)?
To be in the Final 4 4 times in 16 yrs. (1948, '51, '58, '64)?
To be ranked #1 (AP) in 1953, '58, &'59 and top 5 all of 1958-59? #1 in last poll 1959.
To be in the Top 10 most of the 1950's and early 1960's?
To win 4 conference titles in a row (1958-61), and 7 in 9 seasons (1956-1964)?
To win 15 conference titles on avg. every other season (1948-1977)?
To be in the NCAA tournament on avg. every other season when only 1 team per conference was chosen?
For those that experienced these years as a fan, I'd like to hear your thoughts, what you remember players, games, and why was KState so dominant in the 1950's, '60s, and '70s but pretty mediocre ever since? What was the feeling when KState lost a game back then? Anyone?
