For my last post on this message board, I choose to offer my PERSONAL OPINION (which I’m sure all of you know is like an a$$hole – everyone has one and all of them stink) on the state of a message board and Coach Snyder.

From what I’ve been able to gather, message boards are available so that members or groups of people that have one or more similar interests can share their opinions and have discussions. Theoretically, that sounds like a worthwhile opportunity for sharing ideas/opinions. While I do believe that there are a number of posters on Wabash that honestly share their opinions with an open mind to other’s opinions, I’ve come to the conclusion that a majority don’t.

I’ve come to believe in the last 14 years (which doesn’t mean I’m correct – just sharing an opinion) that a majority of people that contribute, do so in a manner that they wouldn’t if their identity was known. Pissing, moaning and complaining about anything and everything, seemingly in hopes that they might at some point be able to raise their flag and claim to have been correct about one of their opinions. I’ve grown tired of some of the chest beaters & as is my right, chose to fill my minutes of the day with other alternatives.

For my final thought/opinion, I’d like to address a hot topic – or at least hot to me – and that is ‘what is Coach Snyder owed by the fan base?’ My opinion would be nothing – he is an employee of the university and is paid as such.

To quote another poster – “Without him we likely get kicked out of the Big 8 before it ever became the Big 12. Without him we don’t have as many shiny new buildings on campus. Manhattan probably doesn’t look the way it currently does. We don’ have hundreds of amazing memories of watching the great football that KST teams have played.” I would agree with this statement. And the university adjusted his contract reflect such.

The millions of tickets purchased during his tenure were not purchased for HIM, but were purchased to view the product displayed on the field. The fan enthusiasm at home games that created a ‘home field advantage’ was due to the success of your alma maters football team, not because of ‘his’ success.

Renovations and facility additions were made by the university – not by Coach Snyder. Did he request everything that has been added or updated? I have no clue. But make no mistake, money was donated not to Bill Snyder, but for the hope that something that became very attractive to follow would remain – a successful football program. Everyone likes to associate with a winner…..

In conclusion – I’m probably the realist of all realists. As most of the thousands of athletes I’ve coached over the years would confirm. Am I happy with this season, recruiting, coaching decisions, etc. No, I’m not. But I’ve got better things to do than beat a dead horse over and over and over. I'm not motivated by - I told you so.

Not enough opinions offered and discussions discussed, to go along with too many pi$$ing contests.

It’s all yours.
