After the news of Jerry Kill's retirement broke this morning, I quickly reached out to two K-State recruits who are expected to be in Minnesota this weekend to see how the latest development affects their standing with the Gophers.
Coney Durr and I have already exchanged texts. While he says he still plans to visit Minnesota this weekend for their game against Michigan, he admits he's "trying to process everything now".
No word yet from Tre Bryant but, like Durr, I'd suspect he'll still make the trip considering the visit has already been scheduled.
This is a make or break type weekend for Minnesota. In terms of Durr, they'll need to deliver an even better sales pitch than what they would have originally because he'll likely come with a lot of questions about what's next for the program. It's unfortunate to say, but Kill's retirement may have helped K-State in this circumstance because Durr wants to announce within the next week or so.
As for Bryant, it sounds like he still may visit other schools, including Nebraska among others, so I'm not sure what today's events mean for him.
