Like many of you I have watched my share of football at many levels over the last few months. I'm sure I'm not the first person with this observation but the state of tackling is abysmal at all levels. Few players tackle with their arms any more and when they do actually use their arms wrapping up seems to be an exception rather than the rule. I'm curious about theories behind the cause(s) ... Are players no longer being taught properly? Are they being taught different techniques intended to minimize risk of injury? Are players too focused on making the bone-crushing tackle as opposed to just getting the guy with the ball to the ground?
