On a work trip this week, and spent the night at the Hampton Inn inside the Mulvane Casino. Quickly noticed that the entire KU coaching staff and several players are staying here. Probably a group of 20-30. The whole group was having the wonderful Hampton Inn breakfast this morning, so I scouted a table in the center of the small dining room to hear everything going on around me. I know this is the hard hitting info we all pay big money to read on this site, so here we go...
1) On a personal note, the people watching at the Mulvane Casino is incredibly depressing. I weep for America, and south central Kansas.
2) The KU coaches & players are conducting high school football camps across the state. Inviting any and all boys grades 9-12 to come to a full day camp to work with KU coaches. Actually seems like a great way to establish relationships with KS high school coaches that were damaged under Weiss. They have conducted camps in Garden, Dodge, and today Wichita.
3) Coach Hyman (special teams & tight ends coach) was making recruiting calls. Spoke with several kids at Bishop Carroll. Called all of them "Big Dog". He also calls all of the other coaches "Big Dog". Also called the Hampton guy refilling the yogurt tray "Big Dog". He is a very cheesy individual.
4) The football receptionist who they kept asking to write things down is incredibly hot. Like doesn't look right in Kansas kind of hot. No idea who she is, but I would love to know her better. She should also be their top high school recruiting tool.
5) Coach Beaty bought himself a sweet new Rolex with his KU signing bonus. (watches are the first thing I notice about people).
6) Coaches are hosting an event somewhere called Friday Night Lights. They were putting a list together of all the Kansas kids to invite. Hot receptionist wrote down all names. I love her.
7) Coach Perry (co Def coordinator) won good money playing craps last night.
