I'll preface this by saying that stats certainly don't paint the entire picture, but these give me (maybe not others) optimism. I'll further preface it by saying that I hate the disjointed feel to our offense, specifically at West Virginia and am still pissed that we let that game slip away. And 2-3 games down the road, maybe these stats won't even be close to relevant any longer.

That said, I found this interesting. We currently our on pace to have more passing yards, rushing yards and points per game than in 2011. And oddly enough, Jesse Ertz stats are very similar to Collin Klein's - rushing and passing - except for rushing TDs. Those goaline carries go to Dimel now.

2016 - without an entire half of football against Missouri St:
Rushing YPG - 188
Passing YPG - 155
Points per game - 34

2011:
Rushing YPG - 185
Passing YPG - 151
Points per game - 31

Then I looked at our remaining schedule and was surprised to see that there is only 1 Big 12 team with better Total Defense statistics and Scoring Defense statistics than Stanford and West Virginia.

Total Defense:
24 - Baylor - 341
53 - Stanford - 379
77 - West Virginia - 418.5
80 - Kansas - 419.2
87 - TCU - 423.8
89 - Oklahoma - 428.4
99 - Texas Tech - 445
101 - Oklahoma St. - 447.8
105 - Iowa St. - 453.5
115 - Texas - 477.2
118 - Fla. Atlantic - 482.3

Scoring Defense:
22 - Baylor - 19.2
26 - West Virginia - 20
47 - Stanford - 24.4
74 - Oklahoma St. - 28.7
86 - TCU - 30
98 - Kansas - 33
101 - Iowa St. - 33.5
109 - Oklahoma - 36.2
111 - Fla. Atlantic - 37.2
116 - Texas Tech - 38.6
118 - Texas - 39.6
