I posted this as a reply earlier but thought i would repeat it, mostly because I'm bored right now.
I'm not ready to make any predictions about this team (good or bad) until we see how they respond to the loss to unc. So far, I'm liking what I see but at the beginning of the season I marked the MU game and potential UNC game as benchmarks.
I thought that if we could be 3-0 and then beat MU (I certainly didn't expect a blowout) it would show we have potential. Then if we happened to beat unc, or play them close, it would be a really good sign.
But how we responded if we lost to unc after being 4-0 would be a big key to how well we do this season overall.
So far they have passed every test in my book with flying colors. Nobody in their right mind could have predicted that this team with this coach would have outplayed unc for over 90% of the game.
Now that they came so close and then had it yanked away we'll get to see how much heart this team really has. It's much easier to be loose and have fun when you're winning. How you respond to a heartbreaking loss is much more telling.
Having said that, I expect that they'll do fine because so far the body language and words have been right. If we come out pissed and beat the holy dogsh!t out of sc state this should be a pretty entertaining and redemptive season. If not, I won't be completely sold yet. JMHO.
